medi: New pick-to-light system is a game changer
As a leading intralogistics company, medi GmbH & Co. KG was faced with the challenge of replacing an outdated picking system and speeding up warehouse processes. CAPTRON Solutions offered a customized solution with the installation of our pick-by-light hardware at various stations in the warehouse as well as the seamless integration of the oneGRID pick-by-light software into Körber's existing WMS system. medi, a leading global manufacturer of medical aids, develops innovative solutions for a better quality of life in Bayreuth with 1,800 employees (approx. 3,000 worldwide). medi offers products such as compression stockings, supports and orthoses that help with conditions such as back pain, torn ligaments, varicose veins and chronic wounds. The product range, which can be found in specialist stores and medical supply stores, promotes successful therapy and supports doctors and specialist retailers in providing treatment according to indication.

Efficient sorting via put walls with integrated put-to-light system
The video shows the use of the new Put Walls with integrated Put-to-Light system from CAPTRON Solutions. The system guides the user intuitively through the picking process by illuminating the LED strips on the shelf and the display on the control panel. The insertion of the article is confirmed with a light touch of the pick-by-light buttons - without any effort.

Medi, a highly automated intralogistics company, was faced with the challenge of replacing an outdated and no longer supported picking system. The aim was to optimize the visibility issues and productivity of the warehouse and logistics processes.
- Visibility: The old system provided insufficient visual cues, which increased the error rate and made picking more difficult.
- Picking efficiency: Due to the lack of support and outdated technology, picking was slow and inefficient.
- Ease of use: The handling of the mechanical buttons of the old pick-by-light system led to more and more errors when sorting and picking goods.

With the implementation of the new Pick-to-Light system, CAPTRON Solutions not only provided medi with a solution to an urgent operational challenge, but also significantly improved the efficiency of warehouse and logistics processes while increasing employee satisfaction. Our Approach:
- Decommissioning of the legacy system: We began by carefully removing the existing order picking system to create the necessary space for the new solution.
- Installation of our Pick-by-Light hardware: Pick-by-Light buttons and LED light strips were installed across various warehouse areas, including goods-to-person picking stations, flow racks, put walls, and pallet storage locations.
- Development of the interface to Körber’s WMS: To ensure seamless integration, we developed a dedicated interface to the existing Warehouse Management System (WMS) from Körber.
