Spirig HealthCare: New Logistics Center with Pick-by-Light
Spirig HealthCare AG chose to strengthen security of supply within the Swiss healthcare sector by establishing a new, dedicated logistics facility in Wangen an der Aare. Modern technology, expanded capacity, and its own fleet were designed to store and distribute its products more reliably, quickly, and sustainably, laying the foundation for further growth. Life-saving medicines can now be delivered within a few hours throughout Switzerland. Seamless Insourcing of Intralogistics at Spirig HealthCare
The video shows the completed warehouse logistics of Spirig HealthCare AG featuring the CAPTRON Pick-by-Light solution. The LED-guided picking, mobile multi-order picking with order picking cart, and clearly structured processes ensure smooth, fast, and error-reduced operations.

The Customer's Challenge
Spirig HealthCare AG aimed to consolidate picking of its own products and all activities previously dispersed across several external locations at a single central site. The goal was to gain greater control over processes, as well as increased flexibility, speed, and delivery reliability. For this, they utilized infrastructure specialized in pharma logistics.
The challenge was to completely rebuild intralogistics – designed for immediate performance and future growth – and to relocate the entire warehouse logistics, all while operations continued seamlessly.

The Solution
For rebuilding its intralogistics, Spirig HealthCare AG implemented an integrated overall concept covering consultancy, system engineering, and execution. A scalable logistics concept with clearly-defined processes and strict pharmaceutical quality standards was developed on the basis of a structured process analysis.
The solution included the oneGRID Cloud as the central software platform, Pick-by-Light with LED strips, and mobile order picking cart for efficient multi-order picking. In parallel, the complete warehouse and system equipment was implemented and integrated into the customer’s existing SAP structures. Structured commissioning and targeted employee training ensured a stable productive operation within a tight time frame.

Scalable Complete Solution from a Single Source
"We chose the modern system from CAPTRON because of its technology. The LED technology is absolutely reliable and energy-saving, and the software is extremely easy to use. Thanks to the clearly visible indicators, the Pick-by-Light system guarantees fast and error-free picking – even when handling multiple orders in parallel. CAPTRON proved to be a highly committed and competent partner both before and during the project, and we look forward to further collaboration."

The Result: Modern Infrastructure and High Standards
The new logistics center is designed to meet high quality and process standards. Pick-by-Light supports fast and error-free picking in daily operations.
Covering approximately 2,600 m², there are more than 2,000 picking locations as well as separate areas for refrigerated and specialized storage. Around 50 employees ensure stable and reliable operation.
With the site in Wangen an der Aare, Spirig HealthCare AG strengthens the logistics foundation for secure supply in the Swiss healthcare sector and has a scalable solution that reliably meets future requirements.
